Backpackers Amazon Jungle Tours and River Trips

I spent a total of 4 days in the Amazon with Amazon Backpackers Tour, and had a fantastic experience. Our group had 5 members plus one guide, and the size of the group was perfect for getting personal contact with the guide while also socializing with fellow travelers. In addition to fishing piranhas, catching caymans, spotting monkeys, dolphins and iguanas, hiking and sleeping in the jungle, we also went to a couple of local bars by the river (by request from the group). It was a great way to experience the local way of living! All in all I felt that Amazon Backpackers Tour was very professional in the way they handled me as a client. Everything went very smoothly. The guides are flexible, and the group can decide what to do, or not to do. I recommend this company for any young traveler looking to experience the Amazon for a few days!

Amazon backpackers provided a friendly flexible service. I came with a short timeframe and was taken as far into the jungle as possible by a welcoming english speaking guide. Hammocks in the jungle far from civilisation are a highlight. Learn a spot of Portuguese to truly befriend the guides

I really had a blast in the Amazon. Arriving in Manaus I met Claudio at the airport, he runs a travel agency called Amazon Backpackers. I was suspect in first place but later accepted his ride to town. He presented me to Marcelo and this is the guy I was looking for, tanned skin from spending too much time in the jungle. Next day we broke off to an unforgettable trip. We ended up at a small Lodge at the Juma River, marvelous environment, really green and rural. The river is quite low so it was easy to catch some fish for the barbecue. First night I slept like a child, but this was only the beginning. Next morning Marcelo woke me up to watch the birds, we took a small canoe and there you are, egrets, hawks, vultures, canaries, and more. After breakfast we broke up to a jungle camp like 2 hours away, canoeing through deserted small rivers to a small hill in swamp land. A small camp would be our house for 5 days. The days we spent hiking, fishing, hunting, canoeing and relaxing (a lot). I learnt how to build trap and to set fishing nets. Even fruits we found in the jungle, the food we brought along were rice, beans and manioc flower, coffee (of cause) and salt. On our hiking trips we met different kind of monkeys, like the howler monkey that makes a terrible noise, mostly every day at 4PM. One Anaconda dared to make contact with us, but disappeared. In night time we had the chance to see some Paca, a kind of wild rabbit. We left the jungle camp and headed for an Indigenous community, where we spent 3 days. I put my hammock in the Maloka, a meeting place and met a totally different attitude against nature from this people. I learned how to process maniok and rubber. Finally coming back to Manaus, my skin had turned reddish black and I felt something changed in my life. I’m curious to come back next year to get even deeper.

Highly recommend the trip. Very well looked after from being picked up at the airport. The trip to the lodge is by taxi, boats and Kombi van. Great bunch of people starting at the same time, from France, Germany, Belgium, US and Taiwan. By the time we had reached the lodge we had seen Jaguar dolphins and a good size caiman, so a good start. Highlight probably the night in the jungle, although it is a ¨rain forest¨ and setting up camp was not that inspiring! This is not a luxury tour, but is very well organised and you are looked after. English is the shared language that worked for me, including the guide Marcelo - who was great. Would recommend the 3 or four day tour unless you want to spend longer in the jungle.

19/11/2011 - ALESSANDRO MANTOVANI (Italy)

First, the places: quite impressive.
I have to say, second, that the trip would be not the same without our special guide, the "Mestre" Samir, because of his know how of the plants of the Jungle, and also for his stories of life. His life too is a very intersting one to learn about the life along the border of Brazil, Guyana, Venezuela, Peru, ect.
But anyway it´s not a really "rain forest" experience, but just a little "touristic" taste. The trekkings in the jungle were short. The boats little and slow, so we can´t visit only the nearest places around.
About the lodge it was at the beginning of its ctivity and quite disorganized, also if the staff (the family of the owner) was really friendly and nice. At least the food was great.
After this first experience in Amazonia, at least I know that I have to look for something deeper.

18/11/2011 - Anja Koristka and Steffi Teschner (Germany)

We liked the tour very much. The travel to get there was good organized. The people of the lodge are so kindly, every time they tried to do everything that we enjoy our stay.
Sami is a very experienced tour guide and it is very good to go with him. He knows every special place in the jungle and he showed us so many things. People on the tour were so different but he did the best that it would be for everybody an unforgotten trip. It is not very easy to survive in nature but we were very safe with him. If somebody get sick, he knows every special medicine to cure people.
We have seen a lot, he catched a kaiman for us and explained anatomy. For the overnight stay we built a camp together with him. We did a lot of jungle trips by boat or by walking and he showed us special plants, animals and medicine wich is a secret for the most people. We catched fish and prepared it for lunch and dinner. We enjoyed also the night boat tour to the middle of Juma lake to see the stars. Also in the lodge it was great, every time good food.
So we can recommend this tour to this special Amazon Place together with Sami for every body, because you need somebody who knows the jungle, who knows what do in every special situation and who brings people together.

Thanks so much for this great time from November 12th to 18th 2011.

Oi

We were very satisfied with the company over all. From the minut we got to the airport they picked us up and proved great service on our trip and on our stay. We found this company online and read the others recomonations.

Marcello, our amazon guide has the knowledge and passion about the jungel and make you feel secure and safe the hole time. He thought us about how mutch the jungel has to offer and that we should respect and apperciate the nature.

The jungle lodge was also beatyful and had more facilities than we could imagen. Our own shower and toilet in the jungel :) Both the food and the service was good.

We recommend Amazon Backpackers Tour!

Best regards

Ane and Mari from Norway

We had a nice tour with Amazon Backpackers. We left Manaus with a comfortable boat to the Meeting of the Waters, where 2 river flow together to build the Amazon River. Then we visit a kind of floating dock with a walk to see giant waterlilies and alligators. After an exquisite lunch on board with fresh fish and fruits we visited an Indian community and they presented a ritual dance. Later we went to swim with pink river dolphins. Amazing how high they can pull to catch a fish. The tour was well organized, we were a small group and the guide spoke fluent English.

Thanks a lot for the adventure!!

20/07/2011 - Camilla and Mette (Denmark)

We booked a four day trip, and had a really good time with our guide and the rest of the group. In the jungle we saw caymans, piranhas, a amazon tree boa snake, leguans, dolphins and a lot of special birds, and the amazon is so beautiful. The guide was not so good at english, but it was okay. We were promised to see aras and toucans, but we did not.
Remember to bring a very strong mosquito repelling, (maybe DEET) it is SO necesary.

29/06/2011 - Klaus Kupfermann (Germany)

We realized our Dream of an jungle adventure.
After a search on the internet, we booked an 8 day tour with Amazon Backpackers.
The owner Claudio picked us up personally at the airport.
The first night we spent in the Amazon Hostel, a small pension near the opera house.
The next morning we left Manaus with our guide.
From the port we went with a speedboat over the Amazon River.
We stopped in the middle to observe the meeting of Rio Negro and Rio Solimoes.
The two rivers flow side by side for miles without mixing and form the Amazonasfluß.
Next we went with a VW bus (the old model from the 70s, which is still being built here) to a small village,
where Zicinha (small Zico) picked us up and brought to his lodge.
Within 2 hours we changed the metropolis of Manaus for an idyllic jungle location beside a small river.
The next two days we spent fishing, Swimming, canoeing and trekking in the vicinity of the Lodge.
After that we went with a small outboard deeper into the jungle to the Juma Lake.
There we built a camp and spent three nights with crazy noises in the night.
We felt like Klaus Kinsky in Aguirre, the Wrath of God.
Sammy was a wonderful guide, he knew the look well with medicinal plants, and knew almost all the animals we met like this:
various species of monkeys, sloth, armadillo, paca, caiman, anaconda, tarantula, buzzard, hawk, heron, kingfisher, hummingbird, piranha, peacock bass and many more.
The last few days we spent with a local family, we enjoyed the simple life of the civilization.
We learned how to make cassava flour and one night we caught a Tucunare with the spear.
Enjoying the sunset in the hammock, swimming with pink dolphins, fishing and grilling fish. What more could you want.
Unfortunately, another 25 years until retirement, then hopefully the Amazon is still intact, we would like to retire here.

My girlfriend and me went with amazon backpackers tours for 5 days and 4 nights. We stayed in the amazon with Christmas with Sammy and his lovely wife Thalita.

We highly recommend amazon backpackers tours! We have had a great time here and Sammy showed us how to live in the jungle. We had to build our own camp, make fire, catch fish and make the fish. So we have eaten lots of types of fish such as the piranha.

Great to experience how the life is in the jungle and to get in contact with the people who actually live in the amazon.

So ask for Sammy!

17/12/2010 - Jop Stevens (the netherlands)

just got back from a two day jungletrip. It was great! spend a night in the jungle with six people in our home made shelter in the rain, did some piranha fishing, jungle hiking and it was good fun! our guide the jungleman was very good, the company of Danish boys and Italian girls very pleasant. Demeon tought us a lot and the only shame is it didn´t last longer.
recommended!

Just got back from a 3 day / 2 night tour. I would highly recommend this for anyone wanting to get a taste of the Amazon jungle. Our guide Marcello was great. He was very enthusiastic and knowledable about the Amazon. Highlights included hiking through the jungle learning about all of the plants and how they are used, piranha fishing, alligator ´hunting´, pink dolphins, jungle wildlife, sleeping in the jungle, meeting people of the village, and on and on.

13/11/2010 - Julia and Douglas (Germany and Brazil)

We can definitely recommend Amazon Backpackers Tours!! We originally did not wanted to take a tour, but luckily Claudio convinced us to!! It was a fantastic experience!!! Claudio just came up to us on the street when we were passing by and so we ended up with a 3 days/2 nights trip to the Boca da Juma Lodge. The lodge is brand new we were the second group to stay there. The accommodation was perfect, the lodge is located close to the river but in the forest and offers basic comfort in nice and clean double rooms with an amply bathroom. The family that runs that place is absolutely wonderful! They make you feel at home in the middle of the jungle. Also our guide Samy was perfect! He is a funny bloke, knows almost everything about the jungle and organizes everything you want to do. We learned a lot about medicinal and food plants went fishing several times, saw dolphins etc. We had a great trip and would always do it again! Thank you!!

04/08/2010 - Baukje & Jasper (Netherlands)

The tour was amazing from the first moment. The transport is very good, no waiting at all. Went to the lodge where a family was very kind to us. Met our guide Sammy, a Bob Marley fan, and he tought us so much about the life and especially the survival in the jungle.
Watching sunrise, canoeing, at the night looking at the stars, piranha fishing, tracking, sleeping in the jungle, catching caieman.....you´ll never get bored. Thanks to Amazon backpackers, the family at the lodge and a special thanks to Sammy, who tought us everything.
Baukje & Jasper

For anybody who reads this, I surely would recommend this tour to you.

04/08/2010 - Joseph Buhagiar (Malta)

Excellent trip with Amazon Backpackers Tours. This is my second time in the Amazon Jungle and I can say this is by far a better experience.

Thanks to our tour guide: James and the natives (Pitbull and Cabelludo).

Recommended.

20/07/2010 - Tim Sleight (Australia)

We did a four day tour to Juma Reserve and had a fantastic trip. Sammy, our guide, was very experienced, entertaining and knowlegable. We saw lots of wildlife and the overnight stay in the jungle was an unforgetable experience.

21/06/2010 - Daniel and Mari (Denmark)

We had a great 4 day trip to see dolphins and piranyas. Our guide Ruben was really enthisastic and with great guiding skills. He took us to some very interesting places and always made sure we had plenty of jungel-adventures. One of the trips we saw a sloth, wich really was a great experience. Accomodation was ok at the lodge with ok food. Just remember mosquito repellant or you will be eaten alive :)
All in all a great brief expierience of the Manaus Amazonas.

12/06/2010 - cristina lopez (United States)

Dameon is a great tour, knows what hes doing, considerate, looked out for us very well. A life jacket would have been great though.

12/06/2010 - Krystal Rodriguez (USA)

Dameon was my tour guide and he was a blast to work with. He is very funny and knows alot about the amazons. we were able to see exciting animals and experiment with different fruits. He did everything we asked and more, he was also very accomodatiing and helpful. I reccommend him as a tour guide and would definietely particiapte with amazon backpackers again.

12/06/2010 - JERRY GROOM (USA)

The best 7 day adventure of our lives! Osmar, our guide, showed us everything: from catching piranhas for dinner, to making our entire camp in the jungle using only a machette, to holding a sloth. The food in the jungle was outstanding. As an added benefit we shared the experience with amazing people from around the world.

01/06/2010 - Matt Trenwith (United Kingdom)

I expected to go to the jungle and see a few animals and relax in a cabin for a few days, we did so many things and saw so many places. We learned so much from Sami our guide who had the most amazing stories and experiences. We learned so much more than we ever expected. I cannot wait to come back and spend a few more days deeper in the jungle. I cannot thank the guides and the tour company enough. I would recommend them to everyone.

Many Thanks

Matt

My trip with Amazon Backpackers far exceeded my expectations. I saw plenty of wildlife and took advantage of the knowledge of the guides. My experience was very personal. The food was excellent. I recommend sleeping in the jungle.

24/05/2010 - Kirk Myers (USA)

The trip with Amazon Backpackers is well worth the money you will spend. The guides are very receptive to any requests be it special tours, food, accommodations. The experience felt personal without lots of tourists in the area and there was plenty of wildlife to be seen.

17/05/2010 - kevin mccarty (USA)

Dear Amazing Backpackers,

Thank you so much for the amazing time we had in the Amazon. We spent 4 days in the Juma Reserve , it was such a beautiful place - wild and perfect for close contact with the wildlife. The lodge is rustic but comfortable and the guides were just fantastic - their knowledge and expertise were astounding. They saw and heard things we could never without their help , we were in very safe hands . We learnt so much about the forest and how to survive in the wild and we saw many different animals and birds.
It was an amazing experience and now we want to do a much longer expedition next time !
Antonio and Sammy , Thank you again for this time, we will never forget it.

Danielle & Thomas

22/04/2010 - Douglas Williams (USA)

We had an amazing time with Amazon Backpackers. I have been dreaming of coming to the Amazon since I was 5 years old and they made the wait worth while. They took great care of us and made sure that we were always having fun and experiencing new things. I would recommend Backpackers to anyone who wants to really experience the Amazon. My only critique would be for the organization to have some classes or some type of information on sustainability and protection of the rainforest.

THANK YOU!!!!

28/03/2010 - Robert Zebracki (Hilliard, Ohio USA)

Arriving in Manaus there are many tour opperaters to choose from for booking a jungle package. I looked for an opperator who had a store front and spoke to three other companies who were listed in the Lonely Planet guide book. I ended up choosing Amazon Backpackers, who were not listed in the guide book. The reason which I selected them was because the location which they were doing the trip was more isolated then where the other companies were doing business. More isolation means more oppertunities to see animals. Our guide Sammi spoke good English and has a great understanding of the area, animals and plant life. He was flexible in changing the days planned events to better please the group . I planned on staying 4 days and stayed 5 days because of the top notch service. I have been on different jungle trips in Asia, Central America and South America and I can say that Amazon Backpackers gave me the best experience. I ended up booking a boat trip & flight to Santerem with Claudio at Amazon Backpackers also ,knowing that he ran an honest and reliable company.

as a person who considers himself well traveled on this planet of ours, i would have to say that my personal journey into the amazon with amazon backpackers tours was the best which i have experienced to date. the entire staff which has been assembled by claudio, was professional, enthusiastic, competent and caring. i have been through many countries incuding europe, southeast asia and a good portion of central and south america this experience provided me with the most customized experience, the focus was on what we wanted to see and do, all you have to do is ask and they will find a way to make it happen for you. good people make great tours!!! thank you for such a positive, life affirming event, which i will take with me, forever.

What an incredible time I had...Piranha fishing as the sun is setting, watching the pink dolphins playing in the water nearby and of course setting up camp for a night in the jungle. Sammi is one crazy mofo - and must certainly be the best guide ever, and Sicilianos cooking has definately fattened me up some.Thanx guys for an amazing time - it wont easily be forgotten!

19/03/2010 - Elina (Canada)

I went on a tour with Amazon Backpackers in March 2010 and had lots of fun. The guys were very helpful and I had a great experience. Sammy, the guide, and Siciliano, the host, were amazing people and showed us around to so many different spots, we went to fish for piranas, caught caymans and went to set our own camp at the jungle. Overall, I would highly recommend the whole experience to anyone who would like to explore and have fun!

16/03/2010 - Joe (USA)

The Amazon Rainforest... Incredible. After eleven days in the jungle I can only reflect that it was only the tip of the iceberg. Yes, I suffered like everyone else from things like mosquitoes and a little too much sunlight but all that pales in comparison to the absolute enjoyment I had. My guide, Gilmar (pronounced Juma), was very knowlegeable and quite skilled at surviving in the wilderness and has also become a good friend. Do be careful with travel plans though, make sure you can make it to your next plane or boat in plenty of time. After my adventure was over I had a bit of trouble making it to the next point in my destination. This was mostly due to poor planning on my part but I think it deserves mention because of how important it can be. In the end, though, enjoy your trip and don't be afraid to experience new things.

13/03/2010 - Monika and Mahdy (Czech Republic and Belgium)

We recommend Amazon Backpackers Tour. It has been done in very friendly and professional way in Manaus and in the Ararinha Lodge as well. The guide was very good and knew a lot about the life in the jungle and everything, that has been promised in Manaus, we received in the jungle. Food was delicious and the Ararinha Lodge is very nice place to stay as well. We visited the place for only 2 days-1night, but will sure return for more!!!!

12/03/2010 - Kylie Reed (Australia)

Trip is really cool - caught piranahs, alligators, saw macaws, tucans, pink and grey dolphins, iguanas etc. Food and accomodation are awsome, better than Ive had for most of my brazillian trip so far!! Thanks Tarzan for an awsome amazon trip :D

09/03/2010 - Willem and Francien (East Africa)

We really enjoyed the trip. we had relatively good service from the moment we were aproached all the way till we were back from the forest. The accomodation was simple but nice and the people were friendly and very accomodating. The food was also simple but tasty and we enjoyed it all. it was great to be in the forest and we had some amazing sightings!!!

we recommend the trip.

27/02/2010 - Anna (Poland)

The trip organized by Amazon Backpackers Tours was a great fun and amazing advanture. The service was very nice, food delicious, tour guides experienced and funny (many greetings to Sammy!!). Its definitely worth recommendation.

24/02/2010 - Matt and Sophie (Australia)

Tour was everything we wanted. Sammy the guide was excellent, passed on a lot of his knowledge on the animals, environment, plants and natural medicines. He has a cure for everything. We were looked after very well and the food and accomodation was really good.

Would definately recommend this tour.

22/02/2010 - Sam Gordon (Australia)

I went on a jungle tour of the Amazon with Amazon Backpacker Tours and it was fantastic!

Claudio and his team were very helpful and professional. The tour felt very rustic and genuine. The authentic cuisine contributed to a wonderful adventure. I particularly found the guides to be knowledgable and personable. I recommend Amazon Backpacker Tours for those who want something real.

04/02/2010 - brian smith (USA)

The tour was excellent. It was the perfect combination of excitement and relaxation. The hotel they had us at in the jungle was very nice and everyone on our tour was great. I especially liked the fishing and preparing of the meal and the night time tour of animals. They were accomodating to our needs and the tour went the pace we wanted it.

25/01/2010 - Stephen Phillips (United Kingdom)

We booked on a four day tour to the Jumo Reserve. We had a really good time with our guide, Damion, who introduced us to life in the rainforest. The wildlife proved elusive, although we managed to spot river dolphins, toucans, and a sloth from a distance. The highlight for me was when we caught and got to hold a baby alligator (caiman).

I would highly recommend Amazon Backpackers for anyone travelling into the Amazon for the first time. You get a real feel for the rainforest and the guides are crazy (in a good way).

02/12/2009 - Camille (Francia)

Very nice, fun and interesting. The place is beautiful and nice to live in, the owners, people who work there and tour guides are lovely. You can discover lots f plants and animals. It would have been even better if I had stayed more than two days but it was already really good! And I loved eating the local fish!
And the transport was well organised.

01/12/2009 - Dag (Germany)

I would recommend amazonbackpackers.
Booking the trip via e-mail was very uncomplicated and getting to the Lodge worked well.
I had an awesome time at the jungle. We spend a night deep in the forest sleeping in hammocks and preparing food over open fire, we were trekking, fishing, swimming... The Guide, Rubem, explained alot about the Plants, Animals and Indiginous people. I learned a lot and had great fun. You shouldn't miss it while in Brasil.

If you have Ruben as your guide you will have struck gold! We couldn't find a question he didn't have the answer to, and he's super friendly with his constant jokes, which should sometimes be taken seriously- he proved himself when we jokingly suggested he climb an enormous tree to get down a boa constrictor he had spotted and 10 minutes later he was back in front of us, the massive snake wrapped around one arm. What a cool guy- always 'risking it for a biscuit' as he would say!

All the activities were really good- we got taught how to do lots of cool stuff like fish for pirahnas, and we met a guy who had single handedly killed an 11-metre anaconda. He also had 18 children. What a man!

The lodge is simple but really good fun, and the night we spent in the jungle was well worth doing and really memorable, as long as you take mosquito repellent and suncream!

In case you can't already tell, we had a fantastic time and definitely reccommend Amazon Backpackers! 4 days and 3 nights was the perfect amount of time- any less and you risk not seeing all the awesome animals.

Thank you so much to Claudio and Ruben for everything. If we can, we'll definitely be back!

We took a four days trip in the Amazon and we had a really good time. Our guide, Ruben, was great. His knowledge about the nature was very good and he was fun.

The best was sleeping in the jungle, catching kaymans and hiking!

Me and a friend (jungle boy as hes known now) had a great time having 3 days and two nights in the jungle. Rueben knew his stuff, and apart from the evil mozzys at night, I found the experience very rewarding. Fair play to Rueben... how He gets to sleep at night in the jungle is a mystery to me :)
Top bloke. Top trip.

My meeting with Claudio and Shanon of Amazon Backpackers changed my whole trip to Manause and the Amazon jungle. They are very warm, hlepful and most of all speak English!!!!

I did a 4 night 5 day tour which gave me enough time to cover everything. RUBEN my guide is simply the best. HIs knowlege is amazing. He has a great sense of humour and always very cheeful. His love for adventure and the ability to handle animals is great.
I had the best time ever... and wonderful experiences to go home with.
I very highly recommend Amazon Backpackers and dont forget to ask for Ruben.

Podeis escribirme a mi email si quereis algun detalle mas o algun consejo. Un saludo. Pablo

The trip to Amazonas was a very nice experience, we had a really good guides, Ruben and Giomar. Both of them know everything about the wild life, flora, fauna and they teached us a lot of interesting things about the jungle; also they told us a lot of stories about the natives (Ruben speaks a very good english). Absolutly we did a very good selection.

I would like to recommend Amazon BackBackers Tour. I have done a trip for 3 days by boat, if you like you can also spend a night in the jungle. We had a guide who is the real deal, ask for him, his name is Anthonio. He knows a lot about the flora and founa and about the people living in the region. He catches caimans from the riviers and climbs in to threes to catch a cobra! The food on board was really good also. Make sure you bring a lot od repellant and do wear long sleeves, you will run into mosquitos for sure... Claudio is the owner of Amozon Backpackers Tour and besides selling good trips ask you can ask him can rearange about anything the get you out of Manaus to yor next destinations.

I had a really good time! The guide was great, he knew so much about the area and all the animals and plants! We saw so many different animals, monkeys, tarantuals, snakes, camens to name a few!
The Jungle Lodge was really nice and friendly everyone went out of their way to help you and it looked over the river.
We spent 2 nights camping outdoors to which was so much fun, our guide prepared delicious food, the campfire was great, hamocks comfortable and there was lots of jungle noises to listen too! Make sure you take really good insect repellant though (at least 50% DEET) and put it under your clothers cos they bite through, we made that mistake the first night! The next night we hardly got any bites.
We also spent a night with a Native family who were really welcoming the children were so friendly and they had a little baby monkey they saved who was goregous! As well as cobras, parrots and a host of other animals!
The days were really good too, swimming in the river, seeing loads of animals and fishing, tho we were unlucky and didnt catch many fish!
Booking was easy and it was a good trip!
I love my time in the Jungle and would highly recommend this company!!

We would certainly recommend using Amazon Backpackers on your Amazon tour. The company is conveniently located on the first floor of the 10 of July hotel, near the main square in Manaus, which also makes it easier to find lodging before and after your tour. Regarding the actual tour, our guide Antonio was fantastic. He knew everything there is to know about the jungle and all the plants and animals that live in it. Great time.

Buona esperienza a tutti.

This Agency is really organized very well and this trip in deep Jungle you will take breath away for thousand reason. Firstly the Guide Roubens is very funny and he knows very well how to do a Camp in the Jungle and sleep on an hammock. UNFORGETTABLE! Great experience never Forget!

Hallo!

Blir nok flere jungelturer!!

We had a really enjoyable trip to the jungle, seeing many birds and even holding a caiman. We particularly enjoyed our night in the jungle and the meal cooked over an open fire.

26/07/2009 - Henk Zwijnenburg (Nederland (Holland))

We - a family of four - stayed at the boat for three days. The crew of four was extremely nice to us. Three times a day they prepared a wonderful meal with many things to choose from: fruits, meat, cheese, juices, coffee, tea etc. Our guide, Ruben, was e realy pleasant and funny fellow, who's english was very good. He knew 'everything' of the jungle and was very willing to explain things. The boat has got two cabins: both are basic and one of them is very small. We did'nt mind but you should not expect too much of this. Maybe bring your hammock and sleep outside! We got to know many relatives of the crew, who lived in the area. It gave us a great opportunity to see how they live, and how friendly they are; we had a lot of fun with them, especially with the kids (swimming and playing domino)..

We have had a fantastic tour threw the jungle of the Amazone. Our guide, Ruben, was a nice guide. He was like a part of the family. during the days we have seen and caught lots of animals, like kaymans sloaks and spiders. Every we got closer to the nature because of the amazingly guide. We even slept in the jungle between the animals. The lodge was covered by beautiful nature. The view was very nice, with all the birds and the lake in front of us. The food could have been better in the lodge.
When we have the change to go back to Brasil, we will definitly do this tour again and hopefully with our guide Ruben!

We loved our trip to the jungle, fishing for piranha, trecking, canoeing and meeting & staying with a local family. Our guide, Demien, was better than we imagined, a real life jungle man. I higly recommend this trip to any one who comes to Manaus looking for an insight into how the people live in this beautiful part of Brazil live. The only drawback for us was that we could only spend 3 days out at the lodge....stay longer if you can. You will not regret it.

25/06/2009 - Laura Whitehouse (Autralian)

Fantastic tour! We went for only 2 days, 1 night and we saw so many animals - sloths, pink dolphins, grey dolphins, snakes, caiman (and we were able to hold most of them too!). Great guide, spoke fluent English., knows a lot about all the fora and fauna and had a good sence of humour. Plenty of food for vegetarians.

Thanks.

I had a very good 4 day jungle trip booked with Claudio from Amazon Backpackers. Our guide Rubin was excellent inspite of two obnoxious Amercian girls.

He was extremely friendly and knowledgable and made the trip a log of fun. I would have liked to have seen more animals, but we were in an area where many Indians lived so I supposed they have been eaten or scared away.

28/01/2009 - Lottie Shephard (British)

Thanks so much, we had an absolutely awsome trip. Great food, great activities and great guide. Overall fantastic experience. Sami vom Amazon Backpackers was very impressive and I felt like he taught me a lot. Cheers.

28/01/2009 - Becky Webb (British)

Sami from Amazon Backpackers was a fantastic guide. The trip was brilliant fun. We had the perfect number of people in our group (5). I was very impressed with the food and the flexibility of the trip. If we wanted a swim, we could go out for a swim. We did not want to stay in the lodge so we went straight out to the camp in the jungle etc. Well. worth the money. Thanks.
